We are cancelling the Casa Publica Sunday afternoon milonga on the 22nd March due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. At this time, we are unable to reassure tango dancers that gatherings of even small numbers of people are safe to continue, and given the close contact of our dance style there is also an added level of concern.
There are some ways in which we can mitigate – to a degree – the risk of cross-infection at a small milonga, but at the moment given the possibility of members already being exposed to the virus we are not prepared to take this risk. We will be keeping up to date with Ministry of Health notifications on a daily basis and will stay in contact with the community via emails and also the Facebook page, and will send updates to members about ongoing Casa Publica events.
Meanwhile – stay well and wash your hands – a lot.
Think about any members of the community that you know who live alone who may require some support – drop off of supplies, a connection via email or Facebook etc – and because we are such an amazing community we can all rally round to send aroha of some kind.
Stay in touch via email or Facebook and if anyone can think of a tango chorus that lasts for 20 seconds that can replace ‘Happy Birthday’ for hand washing that would be very welcome!! ??
